General Situation

A ridge of high pressure will maintain dry, settled conditions across the Lake District on Monday, then a little rain for a time on Tuesday.

Monday


Weather:

All ranges will be dry with any early mist patches quickly clearing. Sunny spells during the morning then gradually clouding over during the afternoon. There may be a few spots of light rain over the Western Fells by dusk.

Visibility:

Very good.

Cloud Base:

Well broken cloud mostly clear of the summits. High cloud increasing during the afternoon with some patches to 700M in west during the evening.

Wind and Temperature at 900m:

Light winds across the summits, generally northwest becoming West and no more than only 10 to 15mph. Plus 5 Celsius rising to plus 8 Celsius.

Freezing Level:

Above the summits.

Tuesday


Weather:

It will be mainly cloudy with patchy light rain and fairly extensive hill fog. The rain will be mainly during the morning, dying away during the afternoon and also becoming brighter.

Visibility / Cloud Base:

Moderate or poor visibility in rain and hill fog, becoming generally good in the afternoon. Extensive cloud cover during the morning, bases around 700M but down to 400m in the west for a time. Clouds tending to lift and break during the afternoon.

Wind / Temperature / Freezing Level:

At 900M, winds will be west or southwest with average speeds of around 20 to 30mph and a temperature of plus 9 Celsius. The freezing level staying above the summits.

Wednesday


Dry, bright and warm across the area with the clouds breaking to give sunny spells. Moderate or fresh southwesterly winds across the summits.

Thursday


The dry weather is expected to continue, again with some sunshine and just a small risk of an afternoon shower. Moderate or fresh southerly winds over the tops.

Friday


Cloudy with outbreaks of rain during the day. Some heavier outbreaks in the morning then dying away during the afternoon. Fresh southeast winds over the summits dying down later.
