Understanding the National Park

Discovery Walks - Easedale Walk

Fellwalking in the Lake District National Park

These full day walks have been designed to encourage pupils to discover the physical and human history of our spectacular landscape. The routes follow footpaths and bridleways, so be prepared for rough terrain.

The history of the landscape is brought to life through interactive activities including word poetry, map reading and role play.

Easedale Walk

This 9 kilometre circular walk starts in Grasmere and goes up the Easedale Valley. The route has some spectacular views enabling pupils to learn about the rocks and how the landscape has been created and influenced by farming and tourism. Learning is through a series of activities, such as sketching, map reading, creative poetry and I-spy.

Location: Grasmere. Excellent activity if staying at a local Youth Hostel.

Duration: Full day - 6 hours
