From Cleator Moor. Educated St. Patrick's Junior School and Whitehaven Grammar School. Served an apprenticeship as an electrician and worked at Sellafield for ten years. Mature student at Liverpool University studying Community and Youth Work.
Now retired, but was actively involved in educational and developmental youth work for Cumbria County Council in West Cumbria. Elected as a member of Copeland Borough Council for Cleator Moor North in April 2006.
Interests include beekeeping, Copeland 'Wheels-to-Work', Home Housing 'Home to Work' community initiatives and birdwatching.
