National guidance
The Department for Communities and Local Government prepares planning policy statements which guide building development across England. Our local policies must be in harmony with this guidance.
We also follow the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) Regulations 2004 (opens in new window). These control the process for policy review such as how the public can access information and the minimum requirements for consultation.
