We are reviewing the policies we use by creating a Local Development Framework. The North West Regional Assembly is creating a new Regional Spatial Strategy which we're also involved with.
Until the new policies are adopted, we will continue to use saved policies in the Local Plan and Structure Plan to decide about planning applications.
What are they about?
The Structure Plan sets out strategic policies for Cumbria and the Lake District National Park.
The Local Plan sets out more detailed policies to guide development.
Where can I read more?
View the policies online by following the links on the Structure Plan and Local Plan. They're also available in local information centres, libraries and offices - read Locations where you can view planning policy documents (opens Document Library).
When will these policies be replaced?
We expect documents in the Local Development Framework to 'go live' from 2009.
