Bassenthwaite fishing survey

Canoeing in the Lake District National Park

Help us catch on!

We are investigating the health of Bassenthwaite lake and are asking anglers to help. Please send us your pike catch returns.

Anglers have noted changes in the fish population in the last few years, most notably in the pike. Pike are at the top of the fish food chain in the lake and are a good indicator of its health.

The Centre of Ecology and Hydrology want to compare the pike caught this year with those caught in previous years to discover if there are any significant changes in the fish population. The data will help us secure funds to find out what is happening to the fish and why.
