This is a short linear route on flat pathway running along-side the west shore of Windermere, England’s most popular recreational lake. A grassy field at High Wray Bay provides an opportunity for a picnic, before returning to the car park at Red Nab by the same lakeshore pathway.

Much of this route is through woodland providing plenty of colour in the late summer and autumn. The old boat houses half way along the route provide an interesting feature. The views, especially those north towards Ambleside and Waterhead, together with the busy steamer and sailing activity on the lake during the summer provide plenty of interest along the way.

Fishing is also allowed from the lakeshore, subject to the usual rod licences being obtained.
