This is a short linear route on the quiet west shore of England’s busiest lake. The route follows a narrow lane for about 2 miles north of the terminus for the Windermere ferry. This lane has a tarmaced surface and is generally level. It is used by vehicles to gain access to a caravan site. The lane joins the main Sawrey - Windermere Ferry road just beyond the ferry landing terminus.

Leave the car in the small parking space and follow the lane northwards as it runs through open fields between the wooded slopes of Claife Heights and the shoreline. After about 2 miles the lane becomes a bumpy track that continues through woodland along the western shore of the lake. Return to the car park by the same route.
