Enjoying The National Park

Our event types

Canoeing in the Lake District National Park

Something for everyone

Do you want a challenge or relaxation? Do you want to learn new skills or simply have ‘time out’? Well, our events have it all.

Family walking

Leisurely walks

Generally low-level, very easy, short walks with a touch of interest thrown in to illustrate more about this unique environment. You may have the odd stile to negotiate or tree root to avoid, but these routes are usually accessible by most. Just turn up in comfortable supportive footwear, appropriate for that day’s conditions.

Hill walks

Hill walks are on footpaths of varying difficulty - see Our walk grades for more details. A chance to explore the fells and valleys on more challenging walks. Friendly and knowledgeable walk leaders will help you to discover quiet corners with breathtaking views – and keep you entertained, informed and safe.

Family/Children

There’s a range of events especially for children and families, including some great Have a Go! events - read more in the Year of Adventure. Some are at the Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole. Children are welcome on any of our guided walks as long as they are suitably equipped and accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Castlerigg Stone Circle

Talks/slide shows

The local knowledge and expertise of our volunteers is also available through an evening’s leisurely slide show or talk – whatever the weather!

A small donation in support of a local charity would be welcome.

Special interest

These events concentrate on a particular theme such as archaeology, the coast or navigation. They may be led by volunteers, rangers, or experts from other organisations.

Group events/ walks

We have a Menu of Walks to cater for groups. We give preference to groups who would not otherwise be able to afford a qualified walk leader, and those who do not generally have the opportunity to get out in the countryside.

If your group (between 10 and 30 people) wish to organise a booking, please call us on 01539 724555 at least four weeks in advance. We will let you know which events are available and try to organise volunteers to lead your events.
