Fix the Fells

Do you enjoy walking in the Lake District Fells? Have ever wondered how the paths are maintained and who looks after them? If you want to find out more then we have the ideal opportunity for you to get involved!

We are looking for a group of people join our team of Fix the Fells Volunteers, undertaking lengthsmen tasks around the Lake District National Park. In 2007 we started our work in the Langdale and Coniston areas. In 2008 we continued our work in Buttermere, Borrrowdale, the Newlands Valley and around Skiddaw. And in 2009, we are going all over the National Park.

Main duties will include maintaining and repairing upland footpaths, landscaping work, as well as monitoring and surveying fell paths. We will provide you with initial training and support over a series of courses and work parties, from March to July, to enable you to fulfil this vital role - and help us fix the fells!

If you want the opportunity to work in stunning locations, make a major contribution to maintaining the Lakeland landscape as well learning new skills and meeting different people, please get in touch to find out more. Anyone is welcome to get involved. For more information contact Tim Duckmanton on 01539 792674 or email tim.duckmanton@lake-district.gov.uk
