Volunteering
The Lake District Volunteers Service offers a fantastic range of opportunities with the Lake District National Park Authority and some of its partner organisations.
Many volunteers give their time, skills and energy looking after this unique place and helping visitors enjoy its special qualities. By getting involved you'll meet new people, learn new skills and discover different parts of the National Park.
Special taster day
Tree planting and aftercare
Saturday 22 November 2008
At Burblethwaite, near Caldbeck
Meet at Burblethwaite at 10am (about 3 miles south west of Caldbeck village). Park on the edge of the road opposite Burblethwaite Farm. Grid reference NY 287 371.
This will be an excellent opportunity to help plant trees in an area of Caldbeck Common. If time allows, volunteers can carry out a mix of aftercare work on the original planting from March 2008. Our local ranger Graham Standring will explain all stages of the work and also talk about the importance of the planting. It's suitable for both completely new and experienced volunteers.
Please wear warm, old clothes, strong boots or wellingtons, and bring waterproofs, gloves, packed lunch and a drink.
The day will finish at 3.30 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there!
