Employment Land and Premises Study
In April 2007 we appointed Atkins consultants to undertake an employment land and premises study for the Lake District National Park.
The purpose of the study is to:
- assess the demand and future supply of employment land and premises within the Lake District National Park
- take forward relevant recommendations of the Lake District Economic Futures Policy Statement
- inform the production of the Lake District National Park Local Development Framework

Employment Sites Programme
In May 2008, we employed Capita Symonds consultants to complete a study identifying potential employment sites, both within and outside our 20 larger settlements. This follows on from the work undertaken by Atkins - see above - and was also funded by the North West Development Agency.
The study primarily focuses on identifying a site for incubator space/managed workspace and for two further business parks subject to additional NWDA funding. It will also be used to inform us in identifying additional employment sites for allocation as part of the Local Development Framework process.
