Living In the National Park

Design Programme

Farming in the Lake District National Park

Great intelligent design

We want:

Wooden frame at St Catherines Centre, near Windermere
  • to open the National Park for great design - interior and exterior
  • our staff and members to have great discussions with people about any new development and its design
  • architects, designers and planning consultants to feel inspired by us and others to create the best in the Northwest, right here in the National Park

"We don’t want design guidelines for the Lake District National Park. We want freedom of thinking. We want design intelligence."

Steve Ratcliffe, Director of Planning and Partnerships at the Lake District National Park Authority

How?

The 12 month Design Programme, funded by ourselves and Northwest Development Agency, will help us get to this position. It brings together our staff, members, specialists from other organisations, architects and consultants. Each event in the programme will create opportunities to learn new things, debate and discuss. There will be seminars, site visits in the National Park and across the country. To avoid duplication with other things going on we link to other activities taking place in the region or nationally with a design theme.

Upcoming events:
