Although the Lake District countryside may seem wild, humans have had a huge affect on its appearance, especially in how grazing farm animals led to bare felltops instead of forests. People have been using the area for at least 10,000 years.
Over 40,000 people live within the National Park. The National Park Authority is responsible for Planning. We also distribute the Sustainable Development Fund and encourage people to use our Toolkit for Sustainable Living to save money and save the planet.
