Enjoying The National Park

Car parks

Canoeing in the Lake District National Park

Why not help the environment and have a carefree day out by leaving the car behind? Many of the Lake District's best loved places are easily explored by bus, boat, bike or boot. Our public transport page has loads more information.

Our car parks

We run car parks around the National Park in Buttermere, Coniston Water, Grasmere, Hawkshead, Langdale, Ullswater and Windermere, as do the National Trust and local councils. There are also free smaller car parks in more remote areas.

Please park responsibly, within marked bays if they exist, keeping away from verges and leaving enough room for manoeuvre.

Disabled users spaces

All car parks have disabled user spaces - please display your blue badge. In most of our car parks there is no charge for vehicles displaying a valid blue badge.
